We have seen how philosophical practice intersects with coaching in mental preparation for sports, leading to the idea of a philosophical coaching manual, previewed in these articles. Starting from the archetype presented by Plato’s Auriga myth, we become aware of the existence of different components within our psyche. These parts must be brought into connection, so that they act harmoniously. A key tool of effective philosophical coaching is self-talk. In this section, we lightly outline its general features and address the three pillars of this technique: speaking to oneself positively, reframing events, and naming things. Here, we sketch the outlines of the first characteristic: speaking to oneself positively.
